Madeira, Portugal  ·  7 Days  ·  Intimate Retreat

Shoot a
real wedding
every day.

An immersive week for wedding photographers who want to build a portfolio that books — in one of the most stunning locations in the world.

7 Days on Madeira
7 Wedding Setups
6 Spots Available

You already know how to shoot.
This week you'll find your vision.

Every morning you arrive at a fully staged wedding scene — dress, florals, models, natural light. Every evening you review what you created. By the end of the week, you have a portfolio that looks like you've already been paid for ten weddings.

01
Real Production, Daily

Wedding dress. Live floral arrangements. Professional models. Handpicked locations across Madeira. We do the full production so you only think about your images.

02
Mentorship That's Honest

Every evening: image review, feedback, conversation. Not cheerleading — genuine critique from a photographer who built her career from zero in a new country.

03
A Community That Stays

Six photographers, one villa, seven days. The connections made here last well beyond the week. Past participants collaborate, refer, and support each other for years.

  • You've photographed weddings but your portfolio doesn't yet show the work you're truly capable of
  • You want to shoot in pressure-free conditions — no client expectations, no timeline stress, just you and your vision
  • You're ready to invest seriously in your growth — in time, in money, and in being fully present for a week
  • You want to shoot in destinations — and Madeira, with its cliffs, levadas, quintas and volcanic coastline, has been on your list
  • You crave working alongside peers who take their craft as seriously as you do
  • You want to come back with 300+ images that can change the direction of your business

This retreat is not for everyone.

If you're looking for a relaxed holiday with some photography on the side — this isn't the right fit. The days are full, the feedback is direct, and we work hard. If that sounds like exactly what you need, you're in the right place.

Seven locations.
Seven stories.

Each day of the retreat is a complete wedding production. A new location, a new atmosphere, a new set of creative challenges. Madeira's landscape gives you everything — volcanic cliffs, old estate gardens, levada paths, the dramatic Atlantic coast.

Morning

The Setup

You arrive to a fully staged scene. Dress is on, flowers are arranged, models are ready. You have 3–4 hours to shoot. Completely free in your approach — no direction unless you want it.

Midday

Exploration & Rest

The villa is yours. Swim, write, wander Madeira's streets. Let your eyes reset. Lunch is prepared. Some afternoons include optional location scouting for the next day.

Evening

The Review

We gather and look at images together. No ego, no performance. Honest feedback, genuine conversation about what worked, what didn't, and what to carry into tomorrow.

The Week

Each day has its own atmosphere, location, and visual language. Together they give you range — and a portfolio that shows who you are as a photographer.

Iryna Vereskun

I built my photography career twice — once in Ukraine, and once again after the war forced me to leave everything behind and start from zero in a new country. That experience taught me something that no workshop had: what it actually takes to build a visual identity that survives disruption.

I co-founded Stelmakh Studio in Ukraine, worked in television production, studied fashion photography under Rudy Arias, and trained with Shutterfly's commercial production systems. Today I'm based in Madeira — a place I chose precisely because of what it does to light, to colour, and to the human need for beauty.

I created Bride Light because I kept seeing talented photographers underselling themselves — not because they couldn't shoot, but because their portfolio didn't show what they were truly capable of. This retreat fixes that. In one week.

The experience
in their words

★★★★★

"I came to Madeira as a photographer who doubted whether wedding photography was really for me. I left with a portfolio I'm genuinely proud of — and three new bookings in the first month home."

Maja K.  ·  Warsaw, Poland

★★★★★

"Iryna's feedback is direct and honest in a way that most mentors aren't. She doesn't tell you you're great when you're not. She tells you exactly what to work on — and shows you how."

Sofía R.  ·  Barcelona, Spain

★★★★★

"The production quality every single day was extraordinary. Real florals, a real dress, actual models — all of it set up before we even arrived. It felt like being on a real editorial shoot."

Anna B.  ·  Vienna, Austria

Common
questions

Ask a question
  • What level of photographer is this for? +
Intermediate to advanced. You should be comfortable with your camera in manual mode and have some experience photographing people. This isn't a beginner's course — it's a portfolio-building intensive for photographers who already have technical foundations and want to develop their artistic voice.
  • What camera equipment do I need? +
Any professional or semi-professional camera body. A 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm prime lens is recommended for most setups — but bring what you know. We'll have a variety of lighting conditions across the seven locations, so a range of focal lengths can be useful.
  • Can I come on my own? Do I need to arrive with a partner? +
Absolutely. Most participants come solo. The retreat is designed for individual photographers, not couples or teams. You'll be working independently during shoots, sharing the experience during evenings and reviews.
  • How many people are in each retreat? +
Maximum 6 photographers per retreat cycle. This is intentional — it ensures you have real space during the shoots, meaningful one-on-one time during reviews, and a genuine sense of community rather than a crowded workshop dynamic.
  • What does accommodation look like? +
A private villa in Madeira. Standard tier shares bathroom facilities with one other participant. Premium tier has a private en-suite room. All rooms are private — no dormitories. The villa has communal spaces, a pool, and a terrace where most evenings are spent.
  • What happens if I need to cancel? +
Full refund if cancelled 90+ days before arrival. 50% refund between 60–89 days. No refund within 60 days. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation — we can recommend options if needed. In exceptional circumstances (serious illness, emergency), we work with participants individually.
  • Are flights included? +
Flights are not included. Madeira is well-connected from most European cities — typically 2–4 hours. TAP, Ryanair, and EasyJet fly direct from major hubs. We'll share flight recommendations once you confirm your place.
